Kurdistan welcomes Iranian co-op  31.12.2007

December 31, 2007

Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan Region 'Iraq',--, A senior official of the Kurdistan Regional Government says Iranian companies are the preferred choice when it comes to cooperation.

"We prefer Iran among the countries that are interested in carrying out projects in the region," said Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government,
www.ekurd.net Omar Fattah in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Hassan Kazemi-Qomi in Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan's cultural capital.

Fattah said Iranian companies are favored above those of other regional states because of the great many matters that the people of Iran and Iraq hold in common.

He added that Iranian firms must play a more active role in the reconstruction of the Kurdistan region, as their positive track record provides an agreeable foundation for work in the area.

The Iranian ambassador welcomed Fattah's positive views by saying that Iran is ready to cooperate.

"Fortunately, today we are witness to an agreeable stability in the Iraqi Kurdistan region regarding security issues. This, more than anything, indicates the level of cooperation between the people and the regional government," said Kazemi-Qomi.
