High-level Kurdistan delegation arrives in
Iraqi holy Shiite province of Najaf

Najaf, Southern Iraq, -- A high-ranking
delegation from the Iraqi Kurdistan region under its
Prime Minister, Negchirvan Barzani, arrived in the
holy Shiite province of Najaf on Monday morning to
meet with political and religious leaders, the
spokesman for the civil administration in Najaf
said.
"The delegation was received by Ammar al-Hakim, son
of Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, the leader of the (Shiite)
Unified Iraqi Coalition (UIC) bloc," Ahmed Deibal
said.
The UIC is the largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament
with 83 out of a total 275 seats.
Outstanding issues are yet to be resolved between
the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan Region and the
central government, including the law on oil & gas
and article 140 of the constitution pertaining to
the normalization of the situation in Kirkuk
province.
A statement by the National Council for Iraqi
Kurdistan on Sunday noted that the Iraqi government
was responsible for the failure to apply article

accusing it of
disregarding the Iraqi constitution. |

"The conferees in the committee on article 140
announced that the Iraqi government was responsible
for failure to apply the article's content, which
means that the Iraqi government is not committed to
Iraq's federal constitution," according to the
statement.
