Kurdistan forces Peshmergas dispatched to
protect Sunni parliamentarian

Baghdad, -- Sunni Iraqi Accordance Front (IAF)
leader said on Saturday that Peshmerga personnel
(Kurdistan national forces) were assigned to his
protection in his Baghdad-based residence.
"I returned home yesterday without protection.
(Iraqi) President Jalal Talabani on Saturday sent
some of his personal security guards from Kurdish
Peshmerga forces to protect me in my office and my
residence,"www.ekurd.net

Adnan al-Dulaimi, said.
The Iraqi Kurds are the strongest allies the US has
in the Iraq. The Kurdish Peshmergas, who have fought
alongside with U.S. against the former regime and
for securing areas in the Arab part of Iraq. |

Al-Dulaimi was allegedly
placed under house arrest and prevented from
attending parliamentary sessions, sparking a heated
debate that led to his move to a Baghdad hotel.
On November 30, 2007 al-Dulaimi's home in western
Baghdad's Adil district was raided after authorities
discovered a car bomb on his premise. Al-Dulaimi's

and more than three
dozen members of his security detail were taken into
custody.
Spokesman for the Baghdad security plan, Brigadier
Qassim Ata, said earlier that al-Dulaimi was not
involved in the killing.Al-Dulaimi, the head of the
third largest bloc which holds 44 seats in the
275-member parliament, is also the leader of the
Iraqi People's Congress, one of the front's three
components.
