Tehran to discuss security, oil, peshmerga

Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', --
Kurdistani leaders will send two delegations to
Iraqi Baghdad to discuss the Peshmerga (Kurdistan
national forces), and oil contracts, and a third one
to Tehran for talks on border security and political
and economic relations, a Kurdish official
said on Sunday.
"The decision was taken after a meeting held by the
Supreme Council for Kurdish Parties with the Iraqi
Kurdistan Region's protection forces (Peshmerga),"
Dr. Fouad Hussein, the Kurdistan Regional
Government's office director, said during a press
conference.
He indicated that the first delegation will study
with the defense ministry and the Iraqi government
the relations between the Peshmerga and the
ministry, funds for the Peshmerga to be part of the
ministry's budget, formation of two Peshmerga
divisions belonging to the ministry and a list of
the retired and handicapped Peshmerga soldiers.
"The second delegation will take up the issue of oil
contracts and the draft law on oil, which is waiting
for debate and ratification by the Iraqi
parliament," said Hussein.
The third Kurdish delegation,www.ekurd.net
he said, would be sent
for the Iranian capital to discuss political and
economic relations as well as security on border
areas between the region and the Islamic republic.
Hussein did not set dates for sending these
delegations but said they would be sent "soon."
