definitely the PKK rebels before winter

Once more, Turkish army was prepared a vast
offensive in the aim to eliminate definitely the PKK
in the mountains; the same offensive that is
launched since 20 years, just before the winter rest
time for both parties. Even the threatening to cross
the “iraqi” border is not new : it happened many
times between 1996 and 1999, with the same few
success.
The only difference is that, this time, Southern
Kurds (Iraqi Kurds) have no intention to welcome
Turks, as KDP did when the PKK was a PUK ally.
Kurdish government warned Ankara that any incursion
could provoke “heavy loss” among Turkish ranks. It
is a kind of paradox that this constant temptation
to intervenes in Southern Kurdistan (Iraq'
Kurdistan) is currently strengthened by the death of
15 Turkish soldiers in Sirnak, while Turkey, as we
said, was prepared a series of attacks against the
PKK within its own borders. Unfortunately, when you
start war, you should be ready to face human losses.
Facing many pressures, from army, public opinion,
excited media, could Recep Tayip Erdogan avoid this
minor invasion of Iraq's Kurdish Region ? The final
decision will be taken by the Parliament
Moreover, the portraits of killed soldiers could be
seen everywhere in Turkish media, with flags,
moarning mothers, national music and slogans : much
pathos and calling to revenge, but, as did state
logically the government of Erbil, if Turkish
soldiers cross the border and try to attack Qandil
mountains, Turkish newspapers have to reserve many
pages to publish the portraits of their future “Sehit”.

Kurds are not recognized as an official minority in
Turkey and are denied rights granted to other
minority groups. Under EU pressure, Turkey recently
granted Kurds limited rights for broadcasts and
education in the Kurdish language, but critics say
the measures do not go far enough.
The use of the term "Kurdistan" is vigorously
rejected due to its alleged political implications
by the Republic of Turkey, which does not recognize
the existence of a "Turkish Kurdistan" Southeast
Turkey.
Others estimate over 40 million Kurds live in
Big Kurdistan (Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Armenia),
which covers an area as big as France, about half of
all Kurds which estimate to 20 million live in
Turkey.
Turkey is home to over 25 million ethnic Kurds, some
of whom openly sympathise with the Kurdish PKK for a
Kurdish homeland in the country's mainly Kurdish
southeast of Turkey.
Before August 2002, the Turkish government placed
severe restrictions on the use of Kurdish language,
prohibiting the language in education and broadcast
media.
The Kurdish alphabet is still not recognized
in Turkey, and use of the Kurdish letters X, W, Q
which do not exist in the Turkish
alphabet has led to judicial persecution in 2000 and
2003
