Tehran, Iran,
January 31, -- The Supreme Council for Islamic
Revolution in Iraq political advisor to Iran stated
that setting up federal regions in Iraq would solve
the country’s problems.
"According to Iraq's constitution the government is
federal and un-concentrated," said Mohsen Hakim.
"Abdul Aziz Hakim has suggested that southern Iraq
which possesses a shared history and culture
establishes a state similar to what Iraq's Kurdistan
region consisting of Erbil, Duhok and Sulaimaniyah
has done," he added.
"Federal regions in Iraq will lead to less pressure
on Baghdad and therefore all can reach their rights
sooner.
It will also lead to less tension and more security
for all," Mohsen Hakim noted.

"Regarding oil, it must be said that according to
the constitution this national treasure belongs to
the central government and states may not interfere
in its affairs.
Therefore concerns regarding this matter are
pointless," he explained, while adding that oil
belongs to all of Iraq and not to where it is
exploited.
