Byblos Bank invests in Kurdistan region

Duhok, Kurdistan region (Iraq), -- The Lebanese
Byblos Bank intends to make business in Kurdistan
Erbil in field of investments and in offering loans
for investors, a Bank official said on Saturday.
"Byblos Bank, which has branches in many countries,
plans to have business in investments and in
offering loans for investors in Iraq's Kurdistan
through the bank branch in Erbil," Aatirah Abdul-Qader,
head of Erbil bank branch, said.
Ms. Abdul-Qader said "the bank branch in Erbil is
expected to start work in two months' time as the
branch staff are now attending a training course in
the bank head-office in Lebanon."
Byblos Bank also plans to open a new branch in
Sulaimaniyah.
"It is also scheduled to start a bank branch in
Sulaimaniyah later this year after all official
approvals had been obtained in
this respect," she said.
Byblos Bank, a major Lebanese bank, was established
in 1950.
Iraq's Kurdistan which is composed of three
provinces, Erbil, Sulaimaniyah and Duhok, is a safe
region where businesses flourish.
