Fouad Massoum : Peshmarga forces will not
participate in any operations outside Kurdistan Region

Dr. Fouad Massoum head of the Kurdish bloc in the
House of Representatives (Parliament), that the
Kurdistani forces Peshmarga will not participate in
any security process outside the Kurdistan region,
pointing out that the brigades of the Iraqi army
will take part in the security plan in Baghdad
comprising Kurdish officers and soldiers.
While a source in the Kurdish forces of the Iraqi
Ministry of Defense yesterday on "continuous
intensive training program" in preparation for their
participation in the implementation of the Baghdad
security Plan.
Massoum told the Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper by
phone call from Sulaimaniyah yesterday "there is the
concept of misconception that all Kurdish carry
weapons is one of the Peshmarga forces", and the
truth is that there is a big difference between the
Peshmaraga Forces which called officially Kurdistan
province Guard and the Kurdish citizens volunteers
to the Iraqi army, and those affiliated to the Iraqi
Ministry of Defense, and within batches brigades and
the armed forces. |

He explained, saying that "Peshmarga forces may be
involved in maintaining the security of the country,
but after the request of all the Iraqi political
blocs and after the approval of the Kurdistan
parliament in order these forces not to fall in
sectarian or racist problems, and therefore Iraqi
forces keen on the security of all parts of Iraq as
it is keen on the security of Kurdistan", pointing
out that the task Peshmarga forces or border guards
were maintaining the security areas of the Kurdistan
Territory.
The Kurdish citizens belonging to the Iraqi army,
they will move under the orders of the Iraqi army
and carry out the tasks entrusted to them by the
Ministry of Defense.
