Sadrist bloc unveils near announcement of
Sadr-Kurd alliance

Erbil, Kurdistan
region (Iraq), January 29, -- Iraqi MP for the
Sadrist bloc Baha Al-Araji unveiled on Monday the
near announcement of the Sadr-Kurd alliance.
Speaking to newsmen he said that a work plan has
been devised along with recommendations for serious
cooperation seeking real national unity.
The Sadr bloc delegation that is visiting Kurdistan
at present, held meetings with the Kurdish leaders
and discussed the Iraqi developments in general and
the relations between the Sadrist bloc and the
Kurdish alliance.
The political movement led by Moqtada al-Sadr has
just ended a two-month boycott of parliament.
The Sadrists are key allies of Prime Minister Nuri
al-Maliki but announced a boycott late last year to
press their demand for a withdrawal of U.S. troops
from Iraq.
They held a joint news conference with members of
the Shiite Alliance, to which the group belongs, to
announce their return to parliament.
