Erbil,
Kurdistan-Iraq, September 13 , -- President of the
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Massoud Barzani
said Kurds pay great attention to securing Iraq's
unity, establishing a confederate Iraq, and battling
terrorism.
In a press statement after receiving US Ambassador
to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad at Erbil airport, Barzani
said some might expect Iraq's long history on unrest
could be settled in a single year, but that is
impossible and "we hope that we can overcome all
problems."
While lauding Khalilzad's role in Iraq, he said
there were major challenges and Kurdistan would do
its best to assist the rest of Iraq.
On his part,
Khalilzad commended Kurdistan's economic development
as a "major achievement," hoping that such progress
would take place in other parts of Iraq. |
