Erbil,
Kurdistan-Iraq, September 7, -- Massoud Barzani,
President of the Kurdistan region in (Northern Iraq)
called on the Iraqi parliament on Thursday to find a
constitutional solution for the controversy that
surrounds the Iraqi flag.
Barzani said in a letter sent to Iraqi parliament
speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani that a new flag
representing all Iraqis must be agreed upon
according to article 12 of the constitution. He
added that some parties were trying to utilize this
issue to trigger conflicts in the country.
The Kurd official said that he held talks with Iraqi
President and Iraqi Prime Minister regarding this
matter. He made the remark in an address before the
Kurd region parliament. |
