The local Kurdish
Authority in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) has decided
to place individuals leaving or escaping from the
PKK (Kurdish Workers’ Party) in a special camp near
Dohuk city.
Those leaving the organization will be sent to camps
in Giregewre region in Kurdistan-Iraq.
A spokesman of the President of Kurdistan Region
(Iraq) and head of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)
Massoud Barzani explained that the status of these
people will be clarified after the completion of the
triad negotiations with Turkey, US and Iraq.
The KPD asserted that their aim, at least, is to
keep these former members under control until their
status can be determined by the three countries.
Reportedly about 2,300 people will be placed in the
camp.
Meanwhile, it was determined that PKK/Kongra-Gel
leader Zubeyir Aydar used Turkish airspace to fly to
Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).
Anka News Agency in Turkey reported that being under
the tight watch of Turkish intelligence services,
Aydar flew from Frankfurt to Iraq with Kurdistan
Airways.
The flight was conducted by German Hamburg Airlines
on behalf of Kurdistan Airways as Turkey does not
allow Kurdistan Airways to fly in its airspace.
Turkey had demanded that Germany and Iraq detain
Aydar and hand him over to the Turkish authorities.
