Talabani: Terrorists causing energy crisis
(Al-Sabah al-Jadeed)
President Jalal Talabani accused terrorists of being
behind the power and fuel crises in northern
Kurdistan which have provoked social unrest. He said
people were within their rights to demonstrate
peacefully, but urged them to understand the reality
of what was going on in Iraq. Talabani insisted that
terrorists were causing the energy crisis, but
pointed out that central government was cooperating
closely with the government of Kurdistan.

Demonstration in Sulaimaniyah
(Baghdad)
Hundreds of demonstrators poured into Sulaimaniyah
yesterday, demanding improvements in public
services. Eyewitnesses said the demonstrators threw
stones at the building adjacent to the headquarters
of the Sulaimaniyah governorate. Sources said that
eight of the protesters met with the governor Dana
Ahmed Majeed and handed him an appeal for
improvements in public services and the release of
four people arrested during the rally.
