North Wales,
August 24, 2006, -- A Judge yesterday said an Iraqi
Kurd who groped a North Wales businesswoman should
be deported.
Deportation papers were served on 32-year-old Zana
Rafiq Jalal at the end of his trial on August 11.
Although his application for asylum failed in May
this year, Jalal filed an application for indefinite
leave to stay in the UK - an application which could
take eight months to determine.
But following Jala's Chester Crown Court conviction
for sexual assault, Judge David Hale said: "I think
it is to the detriment of this country for you to
remain here."
Judge Hale jailed Jalal, from Connah's Quay, for 18
months yesterday after he was convicted of "an
unpleasant indecent assault on a woman going about
her business".
