Kurdistan-Iraq, August 25 ,-- Dozens of Turkish
truck drivers at the Ibrahim Khalil border gate
(Turkey - Kurdistan, Iraq) border protest for
the delay from the Turkish side, the passage of
Turkish trucks coming from Kurdistan (Northern Iraq)
to Turkey.
The demonstrators demanded yesterday, Thursday, and
those who went to the bridge between the border of
Iraqi Kurdistan and Turkey, Turkish authorities
responsible to expedite the process of the passage
of trucks to Turkey.
Mohamed Al-Boz (47 years old), a truck driver, that,
"The entry of Turkish trucks when they return across
the Habur border gate to Turkey is very slow,
causing us problems and material losses."
He added, "trucks stands for a period of 20 to 30
days in the columns of Zakho to the border gate to
enter Turkish territory."
The driver Boz continue "We demand the Turkish
officials in the Habur border point in the process
of expediting the passage of trucks returning from
Kurdistan (Iraq) to Turkish territory"
Another truck driver, Sardar Janker (32 years old)
said "Since 22 days and my car is parked in the
queue waiting to enter the Turkish border, I do not
know the reason for this delay by the Turkish side."
Mr.Hamid the general director of complex Ibrahim
Khalil border (north-west of Dohuk governorate in
Kurdistan), said "there is no problem from the
government of the Kurdistan region side for this
delay and the entry of trucks into Turkey. "
Hamid blamed the Turkish side for delaying the entry
of the trucks, he said "The Turkish side is very
slow in the process of the passage of trucks to and
from Turkey " he added "There is no mechanism to
smooth from Turkish side for the passage of trucks
back and forth, which caused great damage to the
companies and importers."
The Kurdish complex director of Ibrahim Khalil
border refused to clarify the number of trucks
crossing daily from Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) to
Turkish territory or vice versa.
