Kirkuk: Turkuman Front opposes peshmarga patrol

Kirkuk, Kurdistan,- Saadadin Argich, leader of the
Turkman Front, says he is reluctant to a proposed
plan for the Kirkuk city where Kurdish peshmarga
forces would take charge of the security issues.
Turkman Front, which is an umbrella for main Iraqi
Turkman groups, has in the past accused Kurdish
peshmarga forces of harassing he Turkman population
of the city. This has been denied by Kurdish
authorities who have in return accused the Turkman
Front of being manipulated directly by Ankara.
Peshmarga forces were deployed to Mosul last year
upon the request of the Iraqi government. Baghdad
has also formally requested a possible deployment of
peshmarga troops to Kirkuk.
Mercedes sub-office opened in Erbil
Erbil, Kurdistan, - In a ceremony attended by
representatives from the KRG, a sub-office for the
Mercedes Automobiles was opened in Erbil last week.
“The agreement was already signed by Mercedes
Corporation in 2005 which allows us trade with the
Corporation's automobiles, Sabah Haji, Director of
Bajger Company said adding that they had similar
agreements with Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, the
offices of which, he said, would open in the near
future.
Erbil residents not used to pay water bill
Erbil, Kurdistan, - Massud Muhamed, the Director of
Water Supply in Erbil governorate, says that around
3,750,000 cubic meters of water is supplied to Erbil,
in spite of that 95% of people have not paid their
bills this year.
"One of the reasons people don't pay is because we
don't have the technology to measure the amount of
water consumed by households," said Muhammed.
Muhammad added that until they have solved the
question of how to charge consumers, Erbil's
households will receive a "symbolic" bill that they
should pay on a monthly basis.
Oil refineries to be constructed in the Region
Erbil, Kurdistan, - The construction of three oil
refineries has got underway in the Region, Kurdish
officials said last Thursday. The announcement comes
amid exacerbated fuel shortage across the Kurdish
cities.
One of the refineries is planned to be constructed
in Erbil and the other one in Bazian Region, each
with a daily capacity of 20,000 barrels a day. The
third one will be built within Sulaimaniyah
governorate with a capacity of 70,000 barrels a day.
According to new plans, the capacity of Kirkuk's
refinery will be increased to 55,000 barrels a day;
this will most likely solve the fuel crisis in
Kirkuk and its suburbs, officials estimate.
