Kirkuk,
Kurdistan-Iraq, August 30, -– Three Iraqi civilians
were killed and 14 others were wounded on Wednesday
evening in a mini-bus blast in Kirkuk, Iraqi police
said.
"An explosion occured inside a public mini-bus in
A'rafa area, northern Kurdish oil-rich city of
Kirkuk, causing the death of three civilians and the
injury of 14 others," a Kirkuk police officer said,
who declined to be named
"The cause of the explosion is not known yet though
some blast survivors said that a suicide bomber blew
himself inside the bus," the source said.
The wounded were taken to Kirkuk public hospital,
the source added.
The former Iraqi president forced about 250,000
Kurdish residents to give up their homes to Arabs in
the 1970s, to "Arabize" the city and the region's
oil industry.
Kirkuk city is not under the full control of
Kurdistan Regional Government administration. A
referendum in 2007 will decide whether the oil-rich
Kurdish province should be annexed to the safe
semiautonomous Kurdistan region in Iraq's north.
