Government bans four groups
for glorifying terrorism
LONDON, July 17 (AFP) - The government has
banned for the first time four Islamist militant
groups under new laws prohibiting the glorification
of terrorism, an official said.
Home Secretary John Reid named the groups as Al-Ghurabaa,
the Saved Sect, the Baluchistan Liberation Army and
Teyrebaz Azadiye Kurdistan, a Home Office spokesman
told AFP on Monday.
Reid laid an order in parliament which will make it
a criminal offense for a person to belong to or
encourage support for the groups, to arrange
meetings in their support or to wear clothes or
carry articles in public indicating support or
membership.
