First refinery in Kurdistan-Iraq with 250,000 bpd production 8.7.2006 

 






ERBIL, Kurdistan-Iraq, July 7 , -- Iraqi Kurdistan has decided to construct the first oil refinery with refining capacity totalling 250,000 barrels per day (bpd).

During a ceremony here for starting of construction of the new refinery, Iraqi Kurdish Province Oil Minister Ashti Horemi and Director General of Mike Oil Company for Oil and General Trading Ahmad Kheiruddin, signed Friday an MoU at the Kurdish cabinet headquarters.

According to the MoU, Mike oil will begin construction of the refinery with capacity of 250,000 bpd per day. Investments in the refinery total about USD 2.

9 billion. A source close to the Mike Oil Company said construction will be finalized in record time or maximum two years from start of construction date. Mike Oil he added, works in the investment field and is constructing a cement factory in Dhawk province with total production capacity of 3,000 tons daily.
