Erbil,
Kurdistan-Iraq, July 28 ,-- A high ranking Iraqi
Kurdish official said Friday that a high ranking
Kurdish official will arrive here soon to discuss
with Turkish officials the massing of troops along
the Iraqi borders and the launch of a military
offensive against the PKK.
Minister for Kurdish area affairs off Kurdistan Dr.
Mohammad Ihsan told newsmen that Turkey cannot
"violate the sanctity of the Kurdish territory
because this violates international laws and is
similar to violation of Kuwait's territory during
the ruling era of Saddam Hussein."
He said the "Turkish justifications for encroaching
the Kurdish territory with the aim of chasing the
PKK members are illogical, because the PKK fighters
are not up to the extent of launching an offensive.
In addition the main headquarters of the PKK are
within the Turkish territory.
The Turkish government should solve its problems
within its territory and not violate our territory."
According to reports the Turkish infantry units
penetrated the Turkish borders on pretext of chasing
the PKK members close to Questa village, affiliate
to "Amidi" governorate, and stayed for hours before
pulling out into the Turkish territories.
In the meantime Kurdish sources linked between an
earlier visit by US General George Casey to
Kurdistan and his meeting with President of
Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani, against the
backdrop of the US efforts to contain the crisis
erupting between the Kurdish authorities and the
Turkish government at the time of the escalation of
tension between Israel and Lebanon.
