PUK: Sulaimaniyah Ministers Should Move to Erbil
(Kurdistani Nwe)
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's politburo decided
that its ministers (from Sulaimaniyah) in the new
Kurdish cabinet should move their houses to their
city of work (Erbil) so that they can better perform
their duties.
The politburo, in a meeting run by Iraqi president
and PUK secretary-general Jalal Talabani, decided
that some of the government employees as well should
move to the new ministries based on their skills.
(The Kurdish government recently unified its
Sulaimaniyah and Erbil administrations, run by the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan
Democratic Party, respectively.
The Kurdish government's new headquarters will be in
Erbil.)

Basra (Al-Mashriq)
The Arab League has expressed its concerns about the
deteriorating security situation and the escalation

An Arab League source said it received letters from
tribal leaders in Basra, calling on Arabs to
immediately interfere to halt the random killings
and the deteriorating security situation that could
lead to a sectarian conflict. The Arab League
expressed hope that the Iraqi government could
contain the crisis to keep the Iraqi people united.
Sectarian violence has exploded in Basra for months.
Prime minister Nuri al-Maliki announced a state of
emergency in Basra and pledged to use an iron fist
against gangs instigating violence.
