Financial monitoring unit reveals
corruption in Sulaimaniyah

The Kurdistan Regional
Government’s financial monitoring unit has revealed
a number of documents detailing corruption in
Sulaimaniyah city.
Abdul Rahman Salih the head of the financial
monitoring unit in Sulaimaniyah told reporters that
although his department operates in confidentiality,
he was forced to respond in public to a recent TV
show during which the head of Sulaimaniyah
municipality described the performance of the
financial monitoring unit as incompetent.
The file, a copy of which was obtained by Konline
news agency, includes 13 confidential documents
uncovering corruption within the municipality and
reveals a number of incidents penalizing violators.
