Erbil,
Kurdistan-Iraq, June 15, -- A source from the
Ministry of Culture [of Kurdistan regional
government] announced that the Minister of Culture
in Kurdistan Region Falak Kakeyi has ordered the
closure of the Herem TV station, starting from
Tuesday 13 June.
The source said that the TV station will be closed
temporarily in order to review its programmes. It
added that the director of the TV station, Muhammad
Haji Qadr, will remain in his post, and the
decisions taken earlier for changing the TV
programmes will be suspended until an effective
solution is found.
"The reason behind the decision to close the TV
station comes from the fact that the network, with
its existing programmes, has not been able to convey
its message. This is why there is a need for
significant reform," the source added.
Herem TV was founded 14 years ago and has
transformed by the former Ministry of culture to a
satellite TV.
