Kirkuk: Rizgar Ali denies change in
article 140 committee

Kirkuk, Kurdistan-Iraq, The head of the Kirkuk
city provincial council Rizgar Ali denied reports of
appointing a new committee to replace the former
committee concerned with the implementation of
article number 140 of the Iraqi permanent
constitution that seeks to normalize the situation
in Kirkuk, reported PUKmedia, Saturday June 24.
Ali`s statements followed news reports published in
the Iraqi media outlets announcing that the Iraqi
premier Noori Al-Maliki had appointed a new
committee headed by a Turkoman in origin to
implement article number 140 in Kirkuk.
“We have not yet received any written official
document certifying the reported change. Besides,
appointing such committees and making decisions as
such can not be done unilaterally by the council of
ministers; it requires the agreement of all Iraqi
parties.” Ali said adding” We as the provisional
council of Kirkuk oppose decisions as such without
our prior notice or consulting with us.”
Ali sad that his committee was working with the
Iraqi officials in Baghdad to schedule a time for a
delegation from his committee to visit Baghdad to
meet Iraqi top officials including the president
Jalal Talabani to discuss the current situation in
Kirkuk and relevant issues on top of them the
implementation of article number 140 of the
permanent constitution to resolve the situations
within Kirkuk.
