Iranian Resistance condemns mullahs’ Foreign Minister’s trip to Switzerland 23.6.2006

Friday, 23 June 2006

Manouchehr Mottaki, the mullahs’ Foreign Minister “left Rome for Geneva after talks with his Italian counterpart”, according to state-run news agency IRNA.

The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns Mottaki’s presence in Geneva, simultaneous with the ongoing Human Rights Council session since he has been personally involved in plotting and implementing many terrorist attacks on the Iranian dissidents and activists abroad.

Welcoming Mottaki is an affront to all the vlaues and principles which the United Nations bodies, including the Human Rights Council, are tasked to safeguard and promote. Thus, the Iranian Resistance calls on the current session of the Human Rights Council to expel Mottaki.

It also urges the Swiss judiciary to arrest and hand over Mottaki to an international human rights tribunal for crimes perpetrated against humanity.

Appointed as ambassador to Turkey in 1985, Mottaki has a long record in planning and organizing terrorist operations, particularly against the Resistance's activists and Iranian dissidents outside Iran.

Mottaki was directly involved in planning and implementing the abduction of Mr. Abol-Hassan Mojtahedzadeh, an Iranian Resistance activist, in Turkey in 1988 and the attempt on the lives of Messrs. Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and Hossein Abedini, NCRI's Foreign Affairs Committee member in 1990 in Istanbul.

In his capacity as the Foreign Ministry’s Director General of Western European Affairs, Mottaki played a major role in the assassination of Dr. Abdurrahman Qassemlou, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, and his two colleagues in 1989 in Vienna, Austria, by facilitating the terrorists' safe passage from the scene and helping them evade justice in that country.
