Erbil,
Kurdistan-Iraq, June 15, 2006, – Jordanian anti-riot
forces attacked on Wednesday Iranian Kurd refugees
on the Iraq-Jordan borders and wounded some of them,
Halabja Anti-Anfal and Kurds Genocide Center said on
Thursday.
"About 50 soldiers of the Jordanian anti-riot forces
attacked yesterday for the second time Iranian Kurd
refugees living in camps on the Iraqi-Jordanian
border area," the center said in a statement.
"The forces assaulted a man and a pregnant woman
wounding them and attacked others without
discrimination between children, old people or
youth,” the statement added.
Two days ago, the refugees started a strike to
protest neglecting them and the dire conditions they
live in.
The center said a meeting was held between U.S.
Iraqi and Jordanian forces on Wednesday evening
after the incident but no results were announced
yet.
There was no official confirmation of the reported
attack.
Hundreds of Iranian Kurd families live in camps on
the Iraqi-Jordanian border area.
