ERBIL, Kurdistan-Iraq, -- The
city of Erbil in Kurdistan (northern Iraq) will convene its third
Iraq reconstruction fair next September.
Iraqi Deputy Minister of Commerce in Kurdistan Abdullah Ahmad
Abdulrahim told (KUNA) that the Kurdistani government in cooperation
with the Iraqi economic institute will hold the third "rebuild Iraq"
fair from 14-17 of September.
Abdulrahim added that invitations have been sent out to more than
500 global, regional, and local companies to participate in the fair
which will also organize a conference on the economy of the region
for two days.
Abdulrahim also said that the first and second fairs were held in
Amman, the capital of Jordan; however, "the third will take place in
Iraq because of the stable security situation in Kurdistan cities.
"The intention of the Kurdistani government is to have a specialized
fair every two months to enhance relations among Iraqi businessmen
and foreign businessmen, "he added.
There are more than 3800 local and foreign companies that are listed
for business by the office of director of the Iraqi Ministry of
commerce, economy, and finance in Kurdistan, among those 500
companies are foreign investment companies.
Analysts believe the new investment law will help develop and build
investments in Kurdistan and encourage investors to put their assets
in the region.(
