Erbil, Kurdistan-Iraq , -- The
British Embassy in Iraq organized a party in Khanzad Hotel in Erbil,
the capital of the Iraqi Kurdish region, to celebrate the 80th
birthday anniversary of Queen Elizabeth.
Those invited to the celebration included President of Kurdistan
region, Masoud Barzani, KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and
Deputy PM Omar Fattah, members of the Iraqi National Assembly,
members of Kurdistan
National Assembly, as well as KRG ministers.
The celebrations began with a speech by the UK ambassador to Iraq
William Batty. In his speech the ambassador welcomed the guests and
expressed his happiness at the recent unification of the two Kurdish
administrations.
Batty also shed light on bilateral relations between the UK and the
Kurdistan region and reiterated the necessity of boosting those
relations.
Nechirvan Barzani delivered a speech in which he congratulated the
people and the government of the UK on the occasion and shed light
on the help and assistance the UK government has offered to the
people of Kurdistan during difficult times.
The KRG Prime Minister promised that his government would live up to
the expectations of the people by providing necessary services and
developing the Kurdish region on the principles of democracy and
modernism.
