Turkey: Claim of beating in a house raid
in Diyarbakir

Kurdistan-Turkey, May 23 (DIHA) - Cahide Cetin
named Kurdish woman said that special action teams
and Turkish police who raided her house in
Diyarbakir hit her with butt and also clapped her 14
year old daughter, stating that she will apply to
Human Rights Association (IHD).
House raids continue after the events erupted on
28-31 March. Raid was arranged to house of Cahide
Cetin residing in Gocmenler Street in Baglar
neighbourhood in noon. It is claimed that violence
was exercised during the raid realised by 3 special
action teams with long barrel guns. Claiming that
special action teams had beaten her with boot and
clapped her 14 year old daughter, Cetin, told that:
'' They messed up our house. They came about 13.30,
after making half an hour search they went. They
asked my husband. They said that ' is it house of
Mehmet Cetin', and I said 'yes'. When they asked me
where is your husband, I replied my husband went to
west and working. They said me ' you are lying. They
entered in and began to search the house. One of
them waited in front of the door. Other two made
searches in the rooms.
' They hit my head with boot'
Saying that they feared a lot during the raid,
Cahied Cetin, said polices had searched in detail
all interspaces of all beds, books, cabinets and
drawer and messed up everything. Cetin said she
wanted to sent her daughter to go to neighbours and
to call them for she was alone in the home but the
polices did not allow. Stating that the polices hit
her head with butt, told that:
'' My eyes got darkened at the moment, I lost my
balance. They also clapped my 14 year old daughter.
3 polices came to our house during the incidences of
Diyarbakir. I had asked them the search warrant, he
pushed me and said '' we said to you we will do
search, but you ask us search warrant. Those came
last also did not have search warrant.''
Cetin added that they will apply to Human Rights
Association (IHD) and would demand legal support.
