Kurdish Journalist detained for the 2nd
time: Hawlati

Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan-Iraq, -- The weekly
Hawlati journalist Hawez Hawezi was detained last
March by the Kurdish security forces 'Asayish' in
Sulaimaniyah province, for criticizing the PUK
administration in one of his articles published in
Hawlati. He was released on bail.
However, upon his release, Hawezi produced another
article in Hawlati, describing his unlawful arrest
and his ill-treatment by the PUK Security Forces,
reported Hawlati on Sunday. Hawezi was detained,
according to Hawlati, in the early hours on Sunday
April 30 for the article that describes his
detention by the PUK Security Forces. He was accused
of defamation.
Hawlati is a Kurdish independent weekly published in
the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah city.
