Sulaimaniyah,
Kurdistan-Iraq, May 2, -– Shiite gunmen keep
illegally entering Iraqi Kurdish province of Kirkuk
as some parties employ them in police and civil
defense departments in Kirkuk, Colonel Sarhed Qader,
police chief in Kirkuk cities and towns said on
Monday.
"More than 1,000 of them (Shiite gunmen) are in
Kirkuk for several months now," Qader said.
Those gunmen get help from some Kurds to enter
Kirkuk in return for a big commission, he added.
Qader said those gunmen enter Kirkuk for "political
motives." "This would cause problems for the Kurds
in future," he said.
Qader accused "some (Shiite) parties of supporting
those gunmen and provide them with jobs in police
and civil defense departments in Kirkuk."
Kirkuk police were taking measures to stop those
Shiite Arab gunmen from getting into Kirkuk, Qader
said without elaboration
