Baghdad, 4 May
(AKI) - Turkey has approved the idea of giving free
entry visas to Iraqis who travel by air to Ataturk
airport in Istanbul.
The Iraqi foreign ministry said Thursday that "this
measure has already been applied provisionally for a
year and has had a notable impact on encouraging
trade, traffic and tourism between the two
countries." He added that "before the end of that
period we contacted the Turkish foreign ministry to
renew the initiative."
The ministry highlighted that the Turkish
authorities had decided to extend the plan and
scheme to Iraqi passport holders coming from
Baghdad, Erbil or Amman airports to Istanbul,
granting them "a free entry visa into Turkey up
until May 2007".
With this visa, Iraqi travellers can remain in
Turkey for 30 days
