Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan-Iraq,
April 13, -– Iraqi Kurdistan city of Sulaimaniyah would soon host a
contemporary art museum at the cost of about $2 million, said Qader
Hemma Jaan, Sulaimaniyah Municipality Chief.
"The project is underway and Kurdistan government-Sulaimaniyah
department would provide the costs," he said on Wednesday.
French artists Edith Henry and Bertrand Foly are currently working
on collecting world art pieces for display at the Sulaimaniyah
museum.
"For seven years now we have been busy collecting art works from all
over the world to put them on display at the museum," Henry said.
The total cost of construction is estimated at 2.788 billion Iraqi
dinars (about $1.860 million) and the museum is located near Horreya
Park at the heart of Sulaimaniyah.
Two floors of the three-storey building were already built.
