Commercial Bank of Iraq
opens branch in Erbil
Erbil, Kurdistan, March 20, – Nijervan Barzani,
Kurdistan Prime Minister in Kurdistan-Erbil
department, inaugurated Erbil branch of the
Commercial Bank of Iraq in Mahlat Ronaki, the first
branch of the bank outside Baghdad.
“No country can advance without an advanced banking
system,” Barzani said during the inauguration
ceremony on Sunday night.

“The big problem that the investors and businessmen
were complaining of was the lack of a banking system
in Kurdistan. Now, this bank uses visa card system
and will solve their problems in transferring
money,” he added.
“This branch was opened in Erbil as there were big
investments in the city and Arbil is now the second
province after Baghdad were the Commercial Bank of
Iraq is operating,” Hussein al-Zahri, General
Manager of the bank said.
The bank would later open branches in Sulaimaniyah
and Basra, Zahri said.
