Erbil, Iraqi
Kurdistan, 29 March 2006 (Nawa Radio) - Adnan Mufti,
the Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, chaired a
session of the Assembly to discuss a proposed bill
on terror in the Kurdish region of Iraq.
Nawa reporter at the parliament house said majority
of the lawmakers hailed the bill as a step to
confront terror acts in Iraqi Kurdistan and asserted
that the bill should not allow human rights abuses.
Although the Kurdish region of northern Iraq has
been relatively calm, the Kurdish city of Erbil was
hit by twin attacks on February 2, 2004 on
headquarters of the main Kurdish parties (Patriotic
Union of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Democratic Party),
killing more that 100 people.
