Prime Minister Nechirvan to announce
Cabinet in 30 days

Kurdistan- Iraq. Following President Massoud
Barzani’s formal request, Prime Minister Nechirvan
Barzani announced today he will form his Cabinet
within the next 30 days.
He said he would fill his Cabinet with men and women
who are “capable, progressive and responsive to all
the people of Kurdistan Region.”
“Today is an important step in the Kurdistan
Region’s march toward more peace, prosperity and
progress,” stated Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)
Prime Minister Barzani. “I want to build a team that
holds the values that the people of Kurdistan expect
– integrity, leadership and vision.
Earlier, the Kurdistan National Assembly (KNA), the
regional parliament, unanimously confirmed Mr.
Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Democratic Party
(KDP) as KRG Prime Minister. Mr. Omer Fattah of the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is confirmed as
KRG Deputy Prime Minister. |

KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani aims to
significantly raise the level of human resource
development in all KRG ministries which will focus
on economic development, capacity building, and by
better strategic planning, implementation,
transparency, and accountability.
In a brief statement he spelled out the foundation
on which his unified Government will be built:
“I will assemble a Cabinet that will continue
building a free and prosperous Kurdistan Region - at
peace with itself and its neighbors.
“Our team will add to the progress the last
government made in the redevelopment of the
Kurdistan Region so we become a model for economic
growth. We will use the resources of Kurdistan,
based on constitutional rights, for the prosperity
of all our people.
“I will keep my commitment to the safety of the
people of the Kurdistan Region and will fight the
terrorists who want to do us harm wherever and
whenever they show themselves.
“And I want a modern, democratic Kurdistan built on
the foundations of freedom, equality, social justice
and civil protection.”
The Prime Minister expects to make a series of
announcements over the next 30 days as he fills his
cabinet.
