ISTANBUL, Turkey,
- Prof. Dr. Diemut Majer who give lessons in
Bilkent University was protested by the
students, because he said Kurdistan in "State
Theory" lesson. An investigation was started for
Majer, who resigned from his job. And he left
Turkey. In the last two years, 2 teachers had to
leave Turkey, because of saying Kurdistan.
German professor Diemut Majer, who said Kurdistan in
the first lesson of Law Faculty in University of
Bilkent, took reaction from nationalist students.
Majer, who was explaining the forming of the
countries in European Law, took a hard reaction from
the students when he showed the map in which there
aws also Kurdistan.
Thereupon Majer, said "In the maps in Germany, these
regions seem belonging to Kurds". The students said
if this map will use in the class, they will leave
the class. Later on German teacher removed the map.
But a group of student left the class and complained
German teacher to school management.
Thereupon, dean of the faculty Prof. Dr. Turgut Tan
started an investigation. Prof. Majer, said in his
second lesson to a few number of students, who came
to his lesson, "If you don't accept this reality, it
is difficult fro you to enter to EU". And than he
wanted his resign and turned back to Germany.
The Teacher from Australia was also sacked
A similar incident was occurred in Istanbul last
year. Gerhard Pils who was the biology teacher in
Saint-George Austrian College, also was sacked by
the school management, because he said Kurdistan
during the lesson. Pils said that between the
students who complained him, there were students who
aws reading the book of Adolf Hitler, "Mein Kampf".
Austrian teacher Pils, used a expression like this,
during he was explaining the plant species in the
lesson "In the travel that we made to Kurdistan last
year". Pils and his wife were sacked from their
jobs, because of the complains of students. Because
of this, Pils left Turkey. |
