Tirana, Skopje,
Feb 14, - Macedonian citizen was linked to criminal
group involved in large-scale smuggling of Kurds to
European countries via Tirana's airport Mother
Theresa.
The investigation into suspected smuggling, which
was launched nine month ago, indicates that the
criminal group included Albanian, Turkish, and
Macedonian nationals. A citizen of Macedonia, Ali
Ademi, is among the suspected members of the group.
The five-member group, arrested last year, had
organized flights of planes carrying Kurds to EU
countries, with a starting take-off in Istanbul. The
plane used to land at Pristina's airport before
heading to Ljubjana.
Upon arrival in Slovenia, Kurds were given fake
passports and were flown to EU countries.
Albanian prosecution office handed over the
paperwork to national court to set trial date.
