Dahuk, Kurdistan-Iraq, Feb 9, – Iraqi Kurdistan
Dahuk province sent urgent humanitarian aid on
Thursday to floods victims in neighboring Erbil
province in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The floods, caused by heavy rainfall, killed one
citizen and demolished several bridges and many
homes displacing hundreds of people in Erbil and
surrounding villages.
Emadeya residents sent three truck loads of basic
needs and home stuff.
"This aid is to show gratitude for the help Erbil
people offered us during the ominous Enfal campaign
by the ex-regime at the end of the 1980’s,” Emadeya
representative said.
He was referring to the anti-Kurdish campaign,
mounted between February and September 1988 by the
former Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein.
