Baghdad, Feb 6, (VOI)
- An Iraqi delegation headed by Nesreen Brawri,
Minister of Municipalities and General Works,
arrived in Washington last night to hold talks with
the U.S. and World Bank officials on grants program
to Iraq and ways to enhance joint cooperation, the
ministry said on Monday.
Jasem Mohammed Salem, media consultant at the
ministry, quoted Barwri as saying before leaving to
the United States that the Iraqi delegation agenda
included activating the grants programs allocated by
the World Bank to Iraq.
“The grants are dedicated to carry out a set of
projects in a number of Iraqi provinces and will be
discussed with the World Bank Middle East Director,”
Brawri said.
“The delegation will also meet a number of American
officials especially from the States Department to
brief them on the political process in Iraq after
the last elections,” she added.
The Iraqi officials would also present a map of
different service projects already accomplished and
the ones that still need to be executed so that the
other side can provide all the possible help to
speed up the process, the minister said.
Brawri is accompanied in her visit by Hammam Shafiq
Sulaiman, World Bank Coordinator in the ministry of
municipalities and a number of the ministry’s
officials. |
