Eleven Iraqis arrested for attempting illegal
entry to Turkey
Zakho, – The Iraqi Kurdistan borders guards arrested
11 people near the northern Iraqi borders attempting
an illegal entry to Turkey, a security source said
on Saturday.
"11 Iraqi citizens were arrested near Bishok bridge
on the Iraqi northern borders attempting an illegal
entry to Turkey," Captain Saad Haji said.
The arrested, coming from Sulaimaniyah and Baghdad,
confessed that they paid $ 4000-6000 to local
smugglers to illegally transport them to European
countries, the source added.
In 2006, the border guards detained more than 1,000
people in areas near the border town of Zakho while
they were trying to travel illegally to European
countries. Zakho town is in north-western province
of Duhuk
Ministry of Defense declared that new security
plan expecting to be applied at beginning of next
year completed but it needs to deeper study - Al

Spokesman of the Ministry Brigadier General Mohamed
A'skari said at press statement. He added that first
axis is decentralization at duties execution, second

Undersecretary said that three world companies are
vying now to implement the project of building Koya
refinery in Kurdistan region, referring that vying
world companies are US coalition, Canadian Coalition
and English-US Coalition in addition to one of the
competitor local companies
Korean troop deployment in Iraqi Kurdistan
extended
The National Assembly of South Korea on Friday
approved a bill extending the country's troop
presence in Iraq, Korea Times reported on Friday.
The bill calls for the deployment of troops in the
Kurdistani (northern Iraqi) city of Erbil, the
capital of Kurdistan autonomous region for one more
year. The number of troops, however, will be cut
from 2,300 at present to 1,200 by April.
The so-called Zaytun unit was deployed in 2004 to
help reconstruction efforts in the war-torn country.
South Korea initially deployed some 3,300 troops
there at the request of the U.S. government, which
is spearheading a war against terrorists.
