Palestine PM apologizes to Peshmarga
Israel did not allow Ismaeel Haniya to return to
Palestine.
In a festival organized by Hamas Movement, Palestine
Prime Minister Ismaeel Haniya apologized to the
Kurdistan Peshmarga after saying that it is not a
militia. He now says that it has struggled in the
Kurdish movement and is worthy of respect. "I did
not mean in anyway to insult the Kurdistan Peshmarga,
thus I apologize to their forces and to the Kurdish
leadership," said Haniya.
Also, a Palestinian official revealed that the
convoy of Prime Minister Haniya was under attack by
unknown armed men at the Rafah border gate. One of
the guards was killed and five were injured. The
Prime Minister escaped assassination. "A young guard
was killed and Haniya's son was injured along with
four others," said a source.
Israel did not allow Ismaeel Haniya to return to
Palestine following his visit to many Islamic states
to collect donations and support for the Palestinian
government. A source stated that Haniya collected
$30 million to $35 million, but Israel did not allow
the money to enter Palestine.
Kurdistan parties meet to discuss Article 140
implementation
KDP, and PUK. With Turkmen, Chaldean, Arab, and
Assyrian parties, we shall discuss how to implement
Article 140.
In a meeting of Kurdistan parties, Dr. Sady said,
"We wish to listen closely to all opinions and views
concerning the implementation of Article 140 during
meetings with the Kirkuk Council, KDP, and PUK. With
Turkmen, Chaldean, Arab, and Assyrian parties, we
shall discuss how to implement Article 140, and how
to remove any obstacles in its way.
This way, when we return to Iraqi parliament, we can
present a clear picture. Meanwhile, we shall meet
with the high committee responsible for implementing
Article 140."
Iraqis to form a grand coalition
Iraq's major political parties will join force to
form a new grand coalition in the country's
parliament in the coming days, said a senior
official from the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by
Massoud Barzani.
"The formation of that coalition is in the final
stage," Mohammed Mala Qadir, a senior member of
KDP's politburo, whose leader Barzani is the
president of Kurdistan Region, told the Globe.
"There will be a coalition of all political parties,
representing the country's various ethnic, sectarian
and ideological factions that would encompass all
the components of Iraqi society."
So far major Kurdish parties of the KDP, the
patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by Iraq's
president Jalal Talabani, the Supreme Council for
Islamic revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), led by
influential Shiite politician Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim,
and Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party, led by Tariq al-Hashimi,
are believed to be taking part in the coalition.
Qadir rejected that the idea of the grand coalition
had come from the U.S and said "it is an Iraqi
idea."
Amid escalating violence in Iarq, the "moderate
forces" have decided to come together in an alleged
attempt to save the country from the current mayhem.
Last Saturday, representatives of several major
political factions in the country held a
reconciliation conference. Several opposition
figures, including former Baathists, attended the
meeting as well.
In the conference, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki
lifted a ban on the Baathists from being reinstated
to public service. Al-Maliki, however, clarified
that "Iraqi government differentiates between the
Baathists who didn't commit any crimes against Iraqi
people and those who perpetrated big crimes against
Iraqi people and continue shedding the blood of
Iraqis and carry out assassinations and terrorist
acts."
Talabani criticises Istanbul conference (Al-Adala)
President Jalal Talabani condemned the recent
Istanbul conference to support Sunnis in Iraq,
saying it could provoke sedition and sectarianism.
Talabani said he was astonished that Turkey – while
calling for Iraq and the Kurds to fight the PKK –
hosted a conference at which participants called for
violence against the government.
(Al-Adala is issued daily by the Supreme Council of
the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.)
