Erbil, Kurdistan
Region (Iraq), December 30,-- Kurds of large cities
including Erbil, Sulaimaniyah, Kirkuk and Dahuk,
were elated Saturday by Saddam's execution and
congratulated one another on the tyrant's end
specifically since the Kurds suffered most by the
dictator's infamous atrocities.
Several Kurds took to the streets to express their
joy while others fired shots into the air.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Kurdistan's presidency
welcomed the execution and expressed hope it would
pave the way for the Iraqis to close the book on the
past and open a new page among themselves.
"The execution should not make anyone forget the
atrocities committed against the Kurds such as those
in Anfal, the chemical weapons used in Halabja, the
deportation of the Fayli Kurds and the victims of
the mass graves as well as the revolution that
followed the failure of the invasion of Kuwait by
the infamous Iraqi regime," the spokesman Adnan
Al-Mufti said.
He added that most Iraqis welcomed the execution as
this represented the "natural end of all similar
tyrants who use violence against their own people.
