Baghdad, December
21, -– The President of Iraqi Kurdistan Massoud
Barzani met and held talks with Iran's ambassador to
Iraq, Kurdish television announced on Wednesday.
Barzani met Iranian ambassador Hassan Kazemi Qomi in
Baghdad. The two men discussed the issue of
bilateral relations between Iraqi's Kurdish regional
government and the Islamic Republic among other
topics.
Qomi, who was previously Iran's charge d'affaires in
Iraq, is a veteran officer of the Islamic
Revolutionary Guards Corps and was once the IRGC’s
liaison to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The United States and Iraqi officials routinely
blame Tehran for aiding Shiite militias responsible
for dozens of assassinations in Iraq on a daily
basis. |
