DIYARBAKIR,
Turkey-Kurdistan, November 14, -- A private Turkish
oil drilling company named Southern Star has found
oil reserves in southeastern Turkish province of
Adiyaman.
Mahmut Argor, drilling engineer of the company, said
that they started drilling works in an oil well,
named "Nemrut 2", twenty days ago in Adiyaman,
adding that they have been drilling in the area
since then.
Mr. Argor said that the oil reservoir found in the
village of Indere village was as high-quality as
they expected.
With the opening of Nemrut 2, the number of oil
wells in the region has risen up to 25 in Adiyaman,
said Murat Batir, administrative director of the
company.
In July, the Turkey Natural Gas and Oil Company (TPAO)
set up a crude oil drilling platform and commenced
drilling activities in the garden of a high school
in Adiyaman when schools were in the middle of
3-month summer holidays.
