Turkey: PM Erdogan to visit flood-hit Kurdish southeast next week 9.11.2006

Ankara, Turkey, November 9, -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to pay a visit to the mainly Kurdish southeast of the country, which was struck by huge floods, on November 17.

Erdogan has postponed his visit, planned to be held on Wednesday, until Friday next week since former PM Bulent Ecevit has passed away.

Meanwhile, Ministers of Energy, Education, Health and Housing arrived in southeastern Turkish province of
Sirnak to examine and coordinate the aids sent to the region.

Speaking to local residents in the Ortakoy village of Silopi district, Education Minister Huseyin Celik pledged that the government would cover all needs of the victims of floods.
