At least 21 dead in flash floods in
Turkey-Kurdistan

Diyarbakir,
Turkey-Kurdistan, November 1, -- Heavy showers has
resulted in the death at least of 21 people and
missing of 10 in the country's mainly Kurdish
southeast of Turkey, Dogan news agency reported on
Wednesday.
The flood inundated the bus moving in the direction
of Diyarbakir – Mardin as a result of which 17 men
died.
Diyarbakir governor-general Erkan Ala said that the
majority of the injured are placed in schools.
In Silopi settlement in Shirnak the flood caused the
death of 4 men and 2 children.
An emergency center is set up in the region, the
Interior and Agricultural Ministers were sent to the
region. According to the initial estimations 10 men
are missing in Diyarbakir and Shirnak.
In Shanliurfa where 4 men died and 2 are missing the
flood danger is still remaining. The local
authorities evacuated the people of three villages.
During the evacuation 315 houses were emptied, 2650
men were removed to safer places.
Local authorities backed by army troops were
searching for more than 10 people reported to be
missing. A number of villages in the region were
evacuated with locals being rescued by boat.
The heavy rains started at the weekend and had also
caused flash flooding in Istanbul and in
Mediterranean towns.
