Two Peterborough fire engines have travelled through
10 countries and clocked up thousands of miles to
reach Iraq and Kurdistan.
Members of The Fire Brigades Union undertook the
humanitarian trip after purchasing the appliances
which had finished operational service.
Cambridgeshire firefighters also helped get the
engines ready for the trip as well as supplying
equipment.
The only breakdowns during the trip were electrical
faults, the FBU said.
Adrian Clarke of the FBU said: "Firefighters in Iraq
face probably the most dangerous working conditions
anywhere in the world at present." |
