3,800 Kurds from Kurdistan
Region of Iraq, out of 71,000 applicants will
perform Hajj duty in this year.
Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan Region (Iraq), October
30, -- A draw assured 3,800 Kurdish Iraqis, out of
71,000 applicants, that their wish to travel for the
annual Moslem hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia would
be fulfilled, the region's ministry of endowments
and religious affairs said on Sunday.
The draw was successfully concluded at the cultural
centre of Salah-Eddin University under the
supervision of judges from the justice ministry and
representatives of the applicants, Marioun al-Naqshabandi,
director of information at the ministry, said.
"Kurdistan region's quota is 4,000 pilgrims," he
said, adding that the remaining 200 positions would
be filled with organizers, guides and media
personnel.
Flights would start transferring pilgrims in the
middle of December for the hajj which culminates at
year-end.
