Students from Kirkuk organize protest
manifestation - The Kurdish Globe
Kirkuk students demanded Kurdistan Regional
Government (KRG)to give them their post-graduate
degrees.
Some 300 students organized a peaceful protest in
front of the Kurdish parliament palace on Friday,
demanding that the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG)
give them their post-graduate degrees, which they
have earned and have yet to be rewarded.
Dr. Kamal Kirkuki, deputy head of the Kurdistan
parliament, and Dr. Rozan Abudulkader, a parliament
member, greeted student representatives and Naz-Naz
Muhammad, head of the education and postgraduate
committee.
The student representatives thanked the leaders of
the KRG, the postgraduate committee, and the head of
Salahaddin University for their past support, but
asserted that they faced a problem created by
Kurdistan's Minister of Higher Education.
Dr. Kirkuki welcomed the students and said that the
KRG parliament belongs to every Kirkuki student and
all of Kurdistan.
He promised them that he would pass their requests
to the KRG, and he made a special request for the
Kurdish university staff in Kirkuk, Sangal, Shekan
and Khanakin to serve all students in their cities.
Dr. Kirkuki said he supported their requests for
opportunities to study, and reassured them that the
leaders of the KRG would consider their requests and
find a suitable way to solve their problems. Mrs.
Muhammad promised to discuss their issues with the
Minister of Higher Education.
Assyrian Criticizes Kurdish Constitution draft -

Mr. Sarkis Aghajan, the Finance Minister of the
Kurdistan regional Government has Criticized
Kurdistan constitution draft for...
"There are deficiencies in the draft Kurdistan
constitution with regard to the state of our people
and their national rights that are too important to
ignore and should be addressed."
He added that "the draft constitution does not
guarantee the rights of our people to self-rule in
our areas, the historic Nineveh Plain."
He also expressed his rejection to the seperate
designations "Chaldean and Assyrian" in the
constitution. He said, "the Constitution separates
us into two peoples and this is not acceptable. We
are behind the compound designation :'Assyrian
Chaldean Syriac' people, which guarantees and unity
of our people."
He went on to say "it is important that our people
enjoy full national rights constitutionally not only
at the regional level, but also in the Iraqi
constitution. It is important to ensure that the
Assyrian Chaldean Syriac people administer their
affairs in their areas including the formation of
special police force and internal security made up
of our people."
Mr. Sarkis Agajan stated that during the past week,
he has had numerous and lengthy discussions in depth
on these pressing issues with various officials.
He expressed "confidence that unified efforts and
awareness can result in obtaining our rights, and
that he is optimistic that the development of the
draft constitution will be put up for discussion in
order to ensure the rights of our Assyrian Chaldean
Syriac people be included, before approval of this
draft constitution."
Dohuk Governor inspects projects - The
Kurdish Globe
Tamar Ramadan, Governor of Dohuk Province visited
the Directorates for Roads, Bridges and the
construction of villages in order to assess their
progress and to express the province's support for
their work.
Later on the governor visited the village of Ashkaft
Hnare. In an interview with the media, he stated
that they were experiencing problems with waste.
"We are taking measures. We currently exploit land
fill sites for waste disposal. We will construct a
2.8 km road and a waste disposal plant which will be
able to deal with the waste problem for the next 40
years."
More than 2000 students study in poultry farm -

"we were forced to teach our students in poultry
farm due to the lack of building" said the Principle
of Shalaw School in Kani Spika.
"2000 students from three schools 'Midia, Shalaw and
Zozik' study in the poultry farm," the
principle,Salah Abdul Rahman, complained.
Sarkar Mohammad, a student in grade six said "our
place is awful and the situation gets worse in
winter. Our government has regarded us as chickens
therefore they put us in this poultry farm."
Azad Mustafa, the Director of Constructions at the
Sulaimani Education ministry said "we are building
three schools in that county, these student are
temporary studying there however they will be moved
to the new buildings upon their completion ".
